I Tried ZIIP’s Electric Complex Gel, and It’s FINE.

I’ve been obsessed with my ZIIP for the past three years, and I still use my it almost every day. The ZIIP I have, however, can no longer be purchased. The company did a little reworking and now there is just one device, the ZIIP Halo, and a new cheapest gel, labeled Electric Complex Gel. I would love to stick with my personal fave, the Silver Gel, but the price went from $50 to $79 (that’s a 58% increase. As far as I can tell nothing else about the product changed!). This egregious price hike led me to try the $29 Electric Complex Gel, and I’m here to report that it’s perfectly fine. The end!

I could stop there, because that’s really all you need to know, but I have done the research and I will dutifully report my findings. First of all, the bottle is plastic as opposed to glass. It’s a thinner bottle, made of lighter weight materials, but the volume of product is the same as the other gels (80ml). The gel is a little bit thinner and this may make zero sense but I feel like the Silver Gel is a gel, and the Electric Complex Gel is a “gel.” Electric Complex is more watery, thinner, and when using the ZIIP you can’t feel as much of a cushion on your skin as much as the Silver Gel.

For a few days I was completely out of Silver Gel and the Electric Complex hadn’t yet been delivered, so I used Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and not only did it work, it’s very similar in texture and consistency to the Electric Complex Gel. There may be a time when I just use snail mucin with my ZIIP, but for now I’m sticking with the cheapest ZIIP gel. I haven’t done the actual math (nor will I), but I had to use a LOT of snail mucin to feel like it was enough to ZIIP with, and while the Cosrx bottle is larger and cheaper than Electric Complex Gel, for how much I had to use I don’t know if it’s actually worthwhile. But we’ll see! As for now, the Electric Complex Gel is perfectly acceptable, but I will be mad about that unhinged Silver Gel price hike forever.
