Four Times the Store Brand Isn’t Just Fine - It’s Better (Yes, It’s Mostly Kirkland)
Since I wrote about the name brand products I will always splash out on, I figured I should also mention the generic/store brand things that I love and defend just as much as my fancy picks. These are the things that I wouldn’t even consider buying name brand — they have proven their worth and I’m not going to question it! Save some pennies here so you can afford to spend them there, you know? Anyway, here are my fave off brand buys.
Miralax
I’ve been taking Miralax since it was only available by prescription (brag), so trust me when I tell you you can get ANY Miralax knockoff and it’s going to be just like the name brand. It is flavorless and can be added to anything, which is why you don’t need to worry yourself with actual Miralax branded Miralax. I use the Kirkland brand, it’s the same.
Kirkland Paper Towels
Speaking of Kirkland, they make the best paper towels. THE BEST. This is the rare occasion that store brand is BETTER than all the others out there. These paper towels are strong, durable, perfectly sized, and affordable. If I’m out of paper towels, you know I’m going to schlep to Costco, because Target or wherever just doesn’t have the best ones.
Kirkland Detergent
Kirkland Detergent is the best your clothes can get. I use Free and Clear mainly because I have sensitive dogs and I don’t care enough to buy two detergents, so I use the “dog” detergent too. It’s perfect for the whole family! And it goes on sale regularly! And you can buy this little thing and you don’t have to worry about mess or wasted product. Kirkland does it again!
Kirkland Dishwasher Pods
Okay, this is the last Kirkland product (which is not to say it’s the last Kirkland product I love, it’s just the last for these purposes). I run my dishwasher at least once a day, and the Kirkland pods are the only ones I use. They’re simple, affordable, and clean my dishes perfectly. I think Cascade is what’s printed on my dishwasher as the recommended detergent, but I’m not MADE of MONEY and Kirkland is just as good. Maybe better! Maybe the best!
Headphones/Earbuds
I called AirPods AirBuds for years, so I don’t know what these things are truly called. I guess in-ear headphones? Anyway, after going through many pairs of AirPods that lasted two years and then became more of a pain than a perk, I just bought a $40 pair of earbuds… and they are so much better than my AirPods. I have never had a connectivity issue, which was the thing that made me replace my AirPods so many times. The sound is just as good, the quality is even better, and for $40, I can break one or lose them or drop them down a storm drain without a care (I’ve never done any of these things to any headphones but it’s nice to know I could).
