I'm So Sorry To Tell You This, But The Best Place to Buy Dog Toys is Walmart
You may have read that headline and thought, “No, it’s Home Goods.” I too thought that, until I went into a Walmart for the first time in decades and discovered the harsh truth. Walmart has the best deals on toys that dogs go absolutely apeshit for. I don’t know what it is, but Gus will be fairly interested in various toys, but if there’s a squeaky ball from Walmart? He’s obsessed. Here are some of his, and his puppy friends’, favorites.
This is the toy that introduced me to Walmart Dog Toys. These little mini-hockey pucks with faces are like a drug — the dogs will do anything to get them. They will carry them around in their mouths so that no one else can touch them. They will fight their best friend to get one. They will become so obsessed they can’t even go to another room without taking one of these little guys with them. All that AND you get 5 of them for $5. They are often completely sold out.
Gus LOVES to play fetch (uh oh!), and his favorite ball to play fetch with is this one. I don’t know if it’s the material, the color, or the fact that it’s bacon scented, but he LOVES it. We have both the small and the large, and they’re both squishy enough that he can pick up both easily. A nice bonus, though, is that the small one fits in a medium Chuckit, making backyard fetch sessions even easier (for me).
This bone is literally that ball… but a bone. This is better for inside, because it can’t easily roll under furniture and send dogs into a panic spiral until you crawl on the floor and fish it out.If you have no idea what I’m talking about, keep it to yourself. No one likes a braggart.
Gus has two hedgehog toys. One is this one that’s always at Home Goods, and the other is this one from Walmart. They are both hedgehogs. they both make the same snorting sound. AND YET, the Walmart one is the one he loves. I find this hedgehog all over the house, because Gus always wants to be where I am but ALSO he wants his Walmart hedgehog with him too. It’s also a little nicer than the Home Goods one, but costs at least 25% less.
Keep in mind, these toys are just the ones that I’ve bought and found my dog to be completely obsessed with. Walmart has a whole AISLE filled with inexpensive toys that your dog will love. I’m so sorry, but you may need to take a trip to Walmart.
