The Perfect Concealer for No Makeup Makeup
The combination of a global pandemic and moving to the Pacific Northwest really changed the way I use makeup. I was going to see some people in person the other day, and I did a “full face” of makeup (not even a full face, like the way a beauty guru would mean it, but I did do a skintint all over, plus a tiny bit of bronzer and some blush) and I felt so WEIRD that I washed it all off and instead just did some super light concealer, filled in my brows, and did a mere swipe of mascara. I used to love to mess around with makeup and use a bunch of products and try new things and now I’m like, “Eh, I just want to cover what I’m insecure about and highlight what I’m confident about.” It takes like, three minutes.
Anyway, my new favorite product in my little-to-no makeup journey is the Fenty Beauty Bright Fix Eye Brightener Concealer. I use the shade Rose Quartz, which is part of the “color correcting” line with in the undereye concealer line. You can totally get two shades of this concealer and use one to color correct and then one to conceal, but I just use the Rose Quartz solo. It’s light coverage, but it’s buildable, so you can customize your coverage easily. I tend to apply a bit, then move on to my brows or concealing elsewhere, then come back and add more if I want added coverage.
The tube has this little bulb at the end, which is nice and allows you to spread the product while you apply - basically I like that it helps control how much you use. I use a beauty sponge to spread the concealer and blend it in. This is marketed as an undereye concealer and color corrector, but there’s no reason not to use it elsewhere on your face. I really like to put this on blemishes or hyperpigmentation as a color corrector before concealer. The light coverage is just enough to sort of blend a red spot into the surrounding skin tone, and then I need less concealer, or put another way, it looks less like “THERE’S CONCEALER HERE! SOMETHING IS BEING CONCEALED!”
