The Secret to My Lovely Quarantine Complexion? This Serum.

It’s so easy to get ready in the morning when you are planning on going absolutely nowhere. I don’t wash my face in the morning (I loathe washing my face at the sink, I would rather get my whole bod in the shower) but I swipe some Bioderma with a bamboo cotton pad, just to get off all my night products and have a fresh start. Then I’ll put on some kind of moisturizer. For awhile I was using Cosrx Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream, but I wanted something a little lighter. Then I tried this vitamin C serum from Lumene, which was good, but it felt a little drying and i don’t know, acidic? It wasn’t bad by any means, but I knew there was something better. I had seen Cocokind products before, (mostly at Whole Foods, who’s beauty aisles I love to meander down) but when I saw their Vitamin C Serum with Sea Grape Caviar at Target, I thought, “This could be the solution I’ve been looking for!” and tossed a bottle in my cart.

This serum really is what I’ve been looking for. It’s hydrating, but not oily. It’s brightening, but doesn’t feel like I’m layering acid on my skin. It’s super easy to use and to buy (Target does it again!). The bottle is opaque, so you don’t have to worry about he product degrading while it’s sitting in your cabinet. Basically, it’s effective and easy.

I had a few breakouts during the beginning of lockdown, I think just from stress and having my routine upended, but lately I’ve had some of my best skin days ever, and I think it’s because I’ve taken my skincare down to just real basic stuff. This serum is part of that routine, and I’m so impressed with it that now I’m exploring other Cocokind offerings. This serum has a matching glow essence that looks lovely, and I’m eyeing this oil to milk cleanser, and you know I love an all-purpose balm. I also like that the company is dedicated to minimizing their environmental impact and supporting women-owned businesses. They have a great blog* that details how to use their products, and they also had a post about Black-owned beauty and wellness businesses to support… which is essentially advertising for their competition… which many businesses wouldn’t do, but Coockind knows that a rising tide lifts all boats**.

*This really sounds like I’m working for Cocokind. I’m not! I just really, really like this product and I wanted to know more about the company. Normalize researching the companies you support!

**I did a quick Google to make sure I was phrasing this correctly, and I found this article which I personally found interesting, and maybe you will too.
