Wear, Watch, Want #137: The Anachronistic Dutch Turban Edition
Wear: Aquis Travel Turban Hair Dryer
I have added spin classes to my workout routine, and that means I’m now going to a sweaty workout class four or five days a week. My whole hair washing schedule was built around going to barre Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and washing my hair afterward, and I’m still figuring out how to work in spin, a significantly sweatier exercise, into my routine. I can’t be bothered to wash and dry my hair five days a week, and it’s also probably not too good for my hair anyway. I’ve been washing on spin days and when I know I’ll want clean hair the next day, and instead of drying my hair right away, I’ve been wearing this Aquis Hair Drying Turban for 15-20 minutes before I bust out the hair dryer. I don’t know why Aquis products are cheaper at Target than at, say, Nordstrom, because from what I can tell they’re the same products, but this hair turban was $14 at Target and is fantastic at cutting down my dry time and making it easier to do stuff (moving the laundry, starting lunch) when my hair is wet.
Watch: Dickinson
I bought a new iPad, and with it I got a free year of Apple TV+. I had not considered getting Apple TV+, even though it is only $5 a month (or $50 a year) because I just.. didn’t care. I guess that’s common, because Apple is giving it away. ALSO, I have a Roku TV that doesn’t have the Apple TV+ app so watching isn’t as easy as it is with every other streaming service. I have to use my laptop or my iPad and while that’s incredibly easy it feels like SUCH a hassle. But I wanted to watch Dickinson and now I have and it is the BEST and ABSOLUTELY worth $5 a month. Or the cost of an iPad (lololol).
Dickinson has also led me to learn oh, anything about Emily Dickinson, who before now I only associated with the episode of Hey Arnold! when Phoebe wins a poetry contest with a plagiarized poem and her trophy, a statue of Emily Dickinson, taunts her like a telltale heart.
Want: Dutch Oven
I want a dutch oven solely because of the article about them in this month’s Bon Appétit. Even more specifically, it’s because of this recipe. I want to make it and while I’m sure I could use another type of pot, I need a dutch oven! I have been on a dutch oven research kick, and you really don’t have to pay $400 for a Le Creuset one. This Lodge one from Target has great reviews, and Target’s Threshold line even has a good looking one. Threshold also sells this “everyday pan” that I also need in my life. But before I go out and buy a whole slew of kitchen tools, I think I should have more than one recipe that uses them, right?
