This Bubble Mask Makes Me Feel Like a Handsome Squid
I love a face mask, but had never tried bubble masks until I picked up this one from TonyMoly, and to be honest, a big part was that I loved the octopus packaging. But then I LOVED the mask. It was particularly great to use post-workout, when I like to throw on a mask before I shower, but often don’t want to wait 20 minutes for the mask to dry. Bubble masks are made to be worn for 5 minutes! And they really get into your pores and make it feel like you’ve gotten out all that workout sweat. When my TonyMoly mask ran out, I was too lazy to go to the TonyMoly store and buy another one, so I decided to try one I’d seen on Amazon as a bestseller for at least 5 years.
The Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask was the first bubble mask I’d ever seen, but I’d never actually tried it. It doesn’t come in an octopus, but I did realize after DAYS that I kept singing, “Milky Piggy” to the tune of this (NSFW maybe?) song. Is that a selling point for you? Probably not!
I do like this mask better than the TonyMoly one. The consistency, however, is kind of weird. It’s like a thick gelatin, at least in the tub and when you first put it on. It took me awhile to figure out how much to use too, because if you over-apply, the layer closest to your skin will not bubble, and you’ll have this Jello layer that you have to really work to wash off. Best to keep application thin and light.
It comes with a tiny plastic applicator, but I use this mask brush from elf. I don’t typically use a tool to apply face masks, just my fingers, but I find with bubble masks I prefer using a silicone brush. It helps make sure you get a thin, even layer, to better facilitate bubbling.
After washing off the mask, my skin feels super clean and a bit tight - but in a nice way. A way I like feeling after I’ve worked out and gotten super sweaty. I wouldn’t want to use this often, or if I hadn’t been sweating, but when you want to feel really squeaky clean, this is the mask you want.
