This Stick Makes Sun Protection Ridiculously Easy
Not long after I got obsessed with the elf Prep & Hydrate Balm, I realized what I would really get obsessed with was that product, but with an SPF. I don’t know why I thought it would be remotely difficult to find a facial sunscreen stick, but I was shocked that three minutes later I found Supergoop Glow Stick.
I mean, it’s exactly what you think it is: A stick that is moisturizing but also has SPF 50. You just swipe it all over your face and you’re good to go. I also use it on my neck, décolletage, and the tops of my ears. It absorbs super fast, and provides just enough moisture that (for me at least) I don’t need another step. It’s also completely clear, so no worries about that weird white sunscreen cast (that I have never had an issue with, because my skintone IS “weird white sunscreen cast,” but I know it’s an issue for others).
This stick is also great for days I’m not wearing makeup, but also not leaving the house… until I decide to take Hero for a walk and think, “Ah shit, I have to put on sunscreen.” This takes seconds, and then you’re good to go. And there’s no stickiness after you apply. A few more literal seconds and it’s absorbed. It sinks in so quickly, you kind of have to act fast if you want to rub it in with your fingers. And then? You have NO IDEA that you have SPF 50 on. It feels like NOTHING.
There are two downsides to this product. Neither are dealbreakers for me, but there’s room for improvement. First (and I have had a hard time expressing this in words so bear with), the stick doesn’t turn to raise the product, as it does with… basically all other stick cosmetics. You push up the bottom to raise it, like a Push Up. And JUST LIKE A PUSH UP, you sometimes can’t get it to move, and then suddenly it erupts out and you have to figure out how to deal with half your sunscreen or popsicle sticking out when all you wanted was a little bit. The other issue is that this stick costs $25, which is more than I have ever spent on sunscreen. BUT, I need something super easy to ensure that I will put sunscreen on my face each and every day. To me, $25 is worth it, because it means I’ll USE it, and lord knows I need it (we all do!).
