Wear, Watch, Want #106: The Shiny, Reusable Sibling Edition
Wear: Sephora Cream Lip Shine
Sephora Cream Lip Stain has a cult following. I own three of them, and I’m not even that into a bold lip most days. When I first bought Cream Lip Stain, it came in I think 5 shades - now its comes in almost 100 shades. The hype is real, and justified. But there’s new member of the cream lip family, and this one is SHINY. Sephora Cream Lip Shine comes in a tube just like the stain, but with a silver cap. Same doe foot applicator, and it feels the same when you apply it. But this one doesn’t dry down matte. I swatched a few and chose the shade 13 -Sweet Crush. I like to put it on at the beginning of the day and then blot it, so I kind of have a base color that I can then put gloss or whatever on top of. It feels more conditioning than the stain - and looks a bit more natural. The lip shine comes in 10 shades, but who knows if there will be 100 of these someday. At $14 each, why not buy them all?
Watch: The Other Two
The Other Two is a story of two 20-something siblings who are trying to be successful in New York City, and then their teenage little brother becomes a superstar after posting a viral video. The lives of everyone in the family are affected by this 13 year old’s sudden fame, from his older brother, a struggling actor, to his sister, who doesn’t know what she wants from life, so she becomes her baby brother’s assistant. And his mom, played by Molly Shannon (who, BTW, is incredible in co-creator Chris Kelly’s semi-autobiographical film Other People), who is dealing with the recent death of her husband but also enjoying all the opportunities that come from her son’s new career. The Other Two is funny, and heartfelt, and ridiculous. It’s one of those shows where the characters seem unlikeable but you LOVE them, you know?
Also, this is completely unrelated, but I watched The Other Two on the Comedy Central site, which means I had to watch commercials, which I usually don’t do. These commercials were so ridiculous, at first I thought they were fake commercials that were part of the show. Commercials, WYD?!?!
Want: Reusable Silicone Bags
Now that I’m a Smoothie Person, and I’m pre-making smoothie packs to store in my freezer, I’m using many more plastic bags than I ever have before. I don’t think I’m a Captain Planet villain, but I am looking for a way to have the convenience of pre-prepared smoothies without throwing out a plastic baggie everyday. The downside of finding sustainable food storage is that oftentimes it’s SO MUCH more expensive than just buying the insta-garbage that are Ziploc bags. These look good - you get four for $18, and they can go in the freezer and dishwasher. It’s going to be a slow transition, because I’d need multiple sets to actually replace my Ziploc collection - but I’m working on it!
