This Glass Cuticle Tool Upped My At-Home Manicure Game

I do my own nails at home — because I am thrifty and impatient — and I typically wear press-on nails. Even though I’m just gluing fake nails on top of my real nails, the prep work beforehand is just as important, if not more so, than with a typical manicure. It takes me so long to clean up my nails and cuticles it’s no wonder all I have the energy for is gluing on some falsies.

I’m trying to be a little less overzealous when I’m doing cuticle care (I will hack at them with a nipper, it’s not good) so when I saw someone on TikTok using a glass cuticle pusher and making it look so… chic, I had to get one. Their cuticles didn’t look hacked to hell, red, and like they’d just returned from war. Maybe this tool could change everything for me.

And it kind of did! I bought a Bona Fide Beauty Czech Glass Cuticle Pusher and I’m obsessed with it. It’s dual ended, with one side being a flat pusher style and the other side pointy. I will admit, have tried using the flat bit and I hate it. I don’t know if mine is messed up or if I just can’t use it right, but it never works and I’ve given up. The pointy end, however is my favorite thing to use on my nails.

I will sit and scrape and sculpt my nails for ages, and I LOVE how it can get under my cuticles and really lengthen my nail beds. When you apply press-ons, you want to push them under your cuticle for a natural look. After using my pointy glass cuticle tool, there is so much room under there, my press-ons look natural and gorgeous, and it makes it seem like I have long, lovely nail beds (I don’t).

I also have a few areas where I always have to scrape the sides of my nails to get them smooth and ready for my manicure. I worry about metal tools that will cause pitting or hurt my skin if I get too close or my hand slips. The glass cuticle tool makes it super easy to get all that extra gunk off my nails, without causing damage.

I have a whole drawer full of various nail tools, but now that I have my Bona Fide Beauty Czech Glass Cuticle Pusher, they’re all second best, AT best. Even though I only use my glass cuticle tool to 50% of its potential, it’s still my most loved manicure tool.
