Worth It: Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer
I am an air-dry hair girl. Or, I was. It was just such a hassle to blow dry my hair. Taking my big clunky hairdryer out of the closet, and then having to hold it? With my ARMS? And for what? Healthier hair that doesn’t make me feel wet and cold? The cost/benefit just wasn’t there for me. Which is hilarious, because the thing that made me change my ways was a $300 hair dryer.
I had the idea that buying a slim, lightweight, and ultra-fast hair dryer would transform me into someone who dried my hair after every wash. This is a stupid idea. But sometimes, stupid ideas are absolutely correct. I DO dry my hair now! And it’s such a quality of life improvement, I would recommend a Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer to absolutely anyone.
The concentrator nozzle (and all the possible attachments) are magnetic, making styling a breeze. I, however, don’t even use the one attachment I have and I STILL think this hairdryer is worth hundreds of dollars
Yes, it costs $300, which is bonkers. There are fake Dyson hair dryers all over Amazon, why couldn’t I just buy one of those?? Well, I’m a buy it nice or buy it twice kinda gal, and because this was a purchase meant to solve a multiple-times-a-week problem that I would continue to have for… forever, I wanted to buy something that did what it said it would do, and last a long time. I have zero plans to replace this hair dryer. I’m sure I will eventually in the course of my entire life, but if nothing gets in the way, I’ll plan on having this one for as long as possible. I can’t say the same about a $30 or even $100 hair dryer from a random company that I might have to replace in a few years.
I did do some shopping around once I decided on a Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, including refurbished models, and I went with a brand new, but bare bones option: Just the hairdryer and a concentrator nozzle (which I don’t use) that was sold directly from Dyson. This exact combo isn’t sold by Dyson anymore, but I think the equivalent would be this version of their new travel-sized hair dryer, at least that’s the one I would buy if I was looking today. There was sale or I used a coupon code, or both, but my total was $270 (currently on the page it says $400, but the hairdryer is also out of stock so who knows) and after tax it was just under $300. This felt like a wildly extravagant purchase but now, over six months later, I can say it was absolutely worth it. My hair is dry in just a few minutes, it looks healthier, and I actually follow through and use this hairdryer, which is more than I can say for any hairdryer I’ve ever owned.
