Zella Booty Fit Yoga Pants
Every woman has like, 70 pairs of yoga pants, right? At least that's how it seems. And where I live in LA I'm exposed to Yoga Moms left and right. I'm not talking simply about moms that do yoga. I mean, maybe they do eventually, but when I see them they're in full workout gear, perfect makeup, pushing a stoller with at least one beautiful child in it, all while shopping at Beverly Center. I'd think they were just busy moms that don't have time to put on real clothes, but these women are in full on outfits. They look like Lululemon models. So maybe I have a skewed vision of how many workout/yoga outfits the average woman owns, but I know yoga pants are a big part of every woman's (that I know) wardrobe. And I know I'm always looking for the perfect pair.
I'm not a collector of yoga pants. As I do with most clothes, I find a pair that I like and I wear them to death. A few weeks ago I found a new favorite, and I can't imagine any other yoga pants taking it's place for a long, long time. I love Zella's Booty Fit Yoga Pants so much, I wear them at least 6 days a week IF NOT EVERY DAY. Seriously. There's a point in my day where I'm like, "Do I have to go anywhere? No. Do I need to be wearing real clothes? No. Time to bust out the yoga pants!" Much like a Yoga Mom (I assume) I always put on my yoga pants with good intentions. Sometimes I manage to do some actual yoga practice, most of the time I curl up on the couch and watch American Horror Story. Such is life.
But back to the pants. They're by Zella, which is Nordstrom's in-house activewear brand. According to some Googling I just did, Zella is about a half step below Lululemon in terms of quality and price points. Some Lululemon devotees are very passionate about the similarities between the two brands, if you're interested in a more in-depth analysis.
Zella makes many different pant styles, but the one that worked best for me was the Booty. 'CUZ I GOTS A BOOTY. They cling in all the right places, without over-emphasizing my badonk and making me look like Coco T. (Sidenote: Coco is a BEAUTIFUL TREASURE. But only Coco can be Coco, you know? I love you Coco! Never change!) Anyway, these pants fit me like a glove, but best of all, they're LONG. In fact, they come in a long inseam version, which I bought. I'm really paranoid about my pants being too short - especially workout pants. Start looking at other people in workout clothes. You'll notice about half of them have too-short pants. In fact, I think the model in the picture above is almost in the too-short pants zone. Or maybe I'm just super critical. I'd wager both are true. They also have a high waist, so it keeps my little pooch in check. Overal, these pants make me look like I don't even need to workout because I'm already fit as hell.
I also have a problem with yoga pants that feel like cloth. You know, like sweatpant yoga pants. I like my pants to be all polyester and spandex and make me look like a slippery seal. Ok. Not the seal part. I'm not talking a running tights sheen, I just want them to be more exercise-y than lounge-y. Even though most of the time I lounge in them, but whatever. These pants strike the perfect medium between comfortable, wear all day pants and let's get down to business with some hardcore asanas yoga pants.
I haven't washed them yet, so I can't tell you how they do after a cleansing, but I plan on washing them on delicate (maybe in a wash bag?) and laying them flat to dry. I don't want to lose any of that precious length, after all. These pants are truly an essential part of my life. I hope Zella keeps making them forever, because I'm going to need a pair in my life until the day I die.
