Your Face Needs This Miracle Elixir

When I got a sample of Soap & Glory's Super Serum in a Sephora order I was instantly intrigued. I haven't met a Soap & Glory product I haven't completely loved. Even if the products weren't fantastic (which they are) the scents are to die for. This serum is no exception. I made that sample last as long as I could, and once it was gone I felt like my skin instantly became dull, lifeless, and just Not As Good. I think the first few days this was mostly me simply missing my new favorite new skincare product, but after a week there was definitely a difference. I no longer had the glowy, beautiful face that this serum gave me. I needed a full size tube, STAT. Now that I have my full size serum I'm living the good life. I shopped around and researched other serums before being sure I wanted to get this in a full size, and I decided that because I'm young and not really concerned with loss of elasticity and wrinkles, this was a good "starter serum" for me. I spoke to a skincare specialist at Sephora who told me that this is actually considered a serum moisturizer hybrid, and it can be used as either. I love the consistency, which is like a slightly gel-like lotion, and like all Soap & Glory products, the smell is ah-mah-zing. I use one pump at night after my prescription treatments, but before my First Aid Beauty moisturizer (to read more about my skincare routine, click here). My derm recommended that I stop using the 1% hydrocortisone lotion he had me using, since it's a steroid and isn't recommended for long-term use. I took my own advice from that skincare post, looked into serums, and I'm so glad I did.

This serum is marketed as a 6-in-1 Super Serum, and promises (as per the Soap & Glory website), "to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, rehydrate, firm, tone, re-energize tired skin and improve uneven skin-tone." The one thing I've noticed, and why I was happy to replace my hydrocortisone lotion with this serum, it that it's really helped with my hyperpigmentation. Even if I don't futz with blemishes, they leave my skin with hyperpigmentation that can last for weeks. This serum has cut that down significantly. I'm currently on a great skincare routine that has my breakouts at an all-time minimum, but even so, I still get the occasional tiny blemish, and not having to worry about residual red marks is a a huge plus for me. I also tend toward slightly dull, tired skin, and this serum helps me look (and therefore feel) more awake and energized.

I have fallen so head over heels for this serum that in addition to using it each night, I also like to wear it on my makeup-free days. I work at home, so if I don't have to be anywhere or don't want to bother with makeup, I just wash my face and put on a little moisturizer. This serum is now my official No Makeup Day moisturizer. The directions say to use 2-3 pumps for your whole face, but I've found that 1-1.5 is plenty. You really don't need to slather this on for it to be effective. You get a whole ounce in a bottle, which will last a long time, particularly if you aren't over applying. This serum is not only effective, not only the greatest smelling stuff EVAR, but it's also totally affordable, and a great starter serum for someone young, without a bevy of skin concerns, or just looking to break into a slightly more involved skincare routine.
