My Stinky Foster Dog Is Stinky No More, Solely Thanks to This Shampoo
Currently I have a pretty little ward, Chula, who is lovely and smart and also… stinky. By the time she’d been here a month I had bathed her three times. Like, fully tossed her in the shower (by tossed I of course mean placed her gently and with love) and gave her a whole body scrub. Then she’d start smelling a little doggy like, two days later. For reference, Gus gets baths not because he’s super smelly, but because he just could use a reset and I’d love to pay someone else to clean him up and cut his nails. Chula has not needed her nails trimmed once while she’s been here (ten weeks as I’m writing this), but she’s needed (needed) multiple full-on showers and a few sponge baths.
We needed to bring in the big guns, so I bought a bottle of Douxo SEB Shampoo and crossed my fingers, toes, and eyes. The first time I used this shampoo, I just put it on, sudsed her up, then rinsed. It definitely helped with the smell, but I’d also feel the need to give her sponge baths (warm washcloth with a tiny bit of shampoo on, then wipe down with a plain warm washcloth) every few days. I’d used a different flavor of shampoo from Douxo before, and it was great, so I was surprised this wasn’t working any miracles. Then I thought, “I bet you’re supposed to leave this on for awhile,” and when I checked the bottle found I was meant to leave the shampoo on for 5-10 minutes.
So the new protocol is that I get Chula all soaped up with her Douxo shampoo, then she gets a little 5 minute massage (no clue how I’d keep her in the shower for 10 minutes) before getting rinsed and dried. It works wonders. Chula can maintain a non-stinky vibe for weeks! Well, at least 10 days. She smells SO much better and is actually a pleasure to have sitting next to you on the couch. Plus, a talented girl like this deserves to smell like a queen.
