The Tiny Tools That Help Me Un-Gunk My Hair Brush
I use a Tangle Teezer hairbrush, which I raved about here, and I love it. It’s easy to clean, which was my main reason for buying it. I can’t stand having hair stuck in my hairbrush, plus with my chronic dry shampoo use, it’s also always covered in white powder. I pull hair out of my Tangle Teezer after every second use or so, and I wash it regularly to get dry shampoo residue off, but there are always a few stray hairs that I can’t get to. After a long hunt for a brush I could keep clean, having this one tiny aspect of uncleanliness really irked me, so I bought a hairbrush cleaner.
This hairbrush cleaner is a set of two tools, one is a fan of metal teeth, the other is a dual ended plastic comb-type thing. Both are useful, and I’m glad I opted for the set instead of just the metal fan.
The fan works to get the little hairs that I could never reach otherwise, while the dual-ended plastic tool is better for grabbing large bunches of hair (that I used to just pull out with a tissue on an almost daily basis). I also use the plastic brush to scrub my hairbrush when I’m washing it (with clarifying shampoo), to really get all that dry shampoo out of there.
This isn’t the type of tool I’d use daily, but weekly or monthly, when I really feel like my hairbrush is gross, this is going to make the cleaning process easier and more thorough - and help me keep my brush functional for years to come.
