This All-Day Shadow Takes No-Makeup Makeup to the Next Level

The downside to becoming a no-makeup makeup gal is that I don’t have many ways to make myself feel fancy that don’t also make me feel like I’m a toddler left alone with a makeup bag. My old makeup routine makes me feel like a clown, but sometimes I want to add a little oomph to my look. This is a job for eyeshadow. Not a look that involved a palette and multiple brushes! No, the no-makeup makeup (but nicer) look calls for a light wash of a neutral liquid eyeshadow, and Rare Beauty may have made the very best one.

Rare Beauty’s Stay Vulnerable Liquid Eyeshadow is very similar to my old fave, Maybelline Color Tattoo, but it’s matte. This, for me, is key. My super minimal makeup routine doesn’t need any shimmer or glitter — I just want a wash of natural color that adds the tiniest special something to my look.

I apply just one or two dabs of Rare Beauty Eyeshadow (I have the shade Nearly Neutral) to my lids, and buff out with a dense little brush (the one I use isn’t available, but it’s similar to this). I’m left with a very natural looking shadow that adds dimension and interest to my look without clashing with my otherwise pared down routine. Plus, this shadow stays on forever.
