After Just One Use, This Skin-Saving Balm Achieved Holy Grail Status
I have two moisturizers that I plan to have in my routine forever: CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and Etude House SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream (reviewed here). Sunscreen, occlusives, and other moisturizers can be added, or changed, but CeraVe and SoonJung Barrier Cream are my Forever Faves. Because of this, I also trust and want to try any product that is adjacent to these two, which is how I stumbled upon SoonJung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm.
This balm is now one of my favorite “extra” moisturizers. I put it on specific areas that need a little bonus nourishment and protection. Any post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, irritated skin, or around my nose which is always red, extra dry, and in need of some TLC - they all get the SoonJung balm. I am a sucker for this type of product, which means I have tried MANY. Eucerin Healing Cream and La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm are my top two, but I’ve also tried and liked many, many others. But now I might have a top three, because Etude House’s SoonJung balm is just that good.
Eucerin Healing Cream is super thick and oily - I compare it to diaper rash cream every time I mention it, but truly, IT IS. It’s great to wear at night, or if you’re I don’t know, skiing (I have never been skiing), but it may very well leave an oily mark on any fabrics you touch, and even if it doesn’t leave your skin oily looking, it is still a thick white paste. There is no going undercover with this stuff on your body. La Roche Posay is like the low-profile version of the Eucerin Cream. It’s thinner, but still super protective. It soaks into the skin better, but will still leave you with a bit of an oily sheen if you use a lot. I use Cicaplast when I’m dealing with irritated, but not chapped skin, or when I want something a little lighter, but both products I use when I’m chilling at home or going to bed.
SoonJung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm is the evolution of my two favorite super moisturizers. It’s almost silicone-like, compared to Eucerin’s heavy duty cream and La Roche-Posay’s thinner-but-still-thick balm. I would, and do, wear this product out and about. It’s matte and low-profile, but still ultra-nourishing and helps with redness and irritation just as well as my more obvious looking faves. There’s no scent, and honestly, no trace of it being on your face - apart from your skin looking less dry, red, and irritated. I have only used SoonJung Cica Balm as a spot treatment, but I’ve had no ill effects, only quick resolutions to my PIH and perpetually dry nose. I will be repurchasing this miracle balm forever.
As with many KBeauty products, you can order SoonJung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm from StyleVana for a great price, or pay more but get it faster through SokoGlam. Either way, I highly suggest you add this balm to your beauty arsenal.
