Literally, No Makeup Makeup
I already wrote about the Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder, but now I have another shade and it may be even better than the first. Originally I got the fairest shade, 1, and even though it’s super light coverage, it still felt a little makeup-y for some situations. Sometimes I want a little oil control, a little filtered finish, but I don’t want to wear brow product or mascara or blush. I want, literally, no makeup makeup. So i bought Blurring Balm Powder in Universal, and it’s exactly what I was looking for.
There is no shade to Universal, just the mattifying, smoothing, perfecting formula without any color. It’s perfect for someone like me, who can manage to look oily 30 minutes after washing my face. I apply a thin layer all over my face, then apply more to areas where I’m especially oil prone. It truly makes me look like I’m using a filter in real life, but it’s so subtle that I can’t really do a side by side photo to show the results (this is true of all the Blurring Balms).
The two shades together don’t look that different. You might think one is for pink undertones and the other is for neutral to yellow undertones. BUT, when you swatch them, the difference is obvious.
I’ve been reaching more and more for the Universal Blurring Balm over the Fair, and I suspect I’ll only be repurchasing the Universal in the future. I’d imagine it would also be a good makeup primer, if you’re a full-face makeup wearer, but for me, it’s the secret to looking a little more pulled together, but with shockingly little effort.
