The Super Moisturizer Helping Me Get Through Winter
It’s winter, and my skin is reacting appropriately (ie, obnoxiously). I have oily skin that gets super dry. It defies reason. Basically, when I get dry skin, I get flaky, itchy, red patches… and then the rest of my face is oily. Because of this, I am attracted to any and all products that claim to be ultra moisturizing. Topicals Like Butter has been on my radar for awhile, and when Sephora was having an end of year sale I snagged a tube.
First of all, the packaging. I’d describe it as “medicinal disco” which is RIGHT up my alley. The formula is described on Sephora as a “Thick whipped mask” and a “lightweight cream” and I think both of those are misleading. It’s more like an ointment. It’s actually very similar to Yu-Be, which I have written about before and used to use all the time (now I’m thinking I might want to get a tube again, check back in with an old fave).
I find it best to apply Like Butter only on areas I’m experiencing major dryness, like the outer eye area and around my nose. I’ve also tried it on my elbows, and I’m thinking it might be nice to put on your feet before throwing on some thick socks. I put it on before bed and go to sleep, then wake up supremely moisturized. A little goes a long way, and I can’t imagine how long this tube will last me.
