This Multiple Pill Splitter Makes Cutting Pills (And More!) Fast and Easy

If you’ve ever had to cut pills, you know it’s a real drag. There are pill cutters made specifically for the job, and I’ve never had one that I liked. I haven’t had to cut pills for myself in awhile, but I had to cut them for my dog, and it all came flooding back: The pills slide around and never cut evenly, there’s pill dust everywhere, and no matter how you try, you can’t streamline the process, and you can only cut one pill at a time. I was specifically using this one from Target, but they’re all basically the same (crap).

You can always count on the disability community to create solutions, so of COURSE there was a better pill cutter out there, I just had to find it. A simple search led me to this multiple pill splitter, and I figured why not give it a shot. And wouldn’t’ you know, it’s PERFECT.

It’s spring loaded to hold your pills all in a row perfectly, and you just put the lid on, push down, and they’re all split. It’s incredible. I took a lot of photos of the process and was trying to figure out how to describe how this thing works (while not making it sound overly complicated) (because it’s very simple), and then I realized there is probably a video out there. Of course there is.

See? It’s really very easy. I also wanted to cut kibble in half, and it’s great for that (prescription food comes in very few sizes, so a way to make it smaller can be essential). I don’t have any kibble available, but here are some almonds I put in the pill cutter to show how it can adapt to all sizes:

I wouldn’t put any thing tacky, wet, or sticky in there, because I have no idea how you can clean the blade safely, but anything dry that you need to halve, go for it. This little doohickey is so handy, I almost WISH I had pills I needed to cut.
