Wear, Watch, Want #170: The Gloved, Competitive Rug Edition
Wear: Smartwool Gloves
It’s gloves season again, and I completely forgot that last year I upgraded my gloves, and this year it was a lovely surprise! I bought these Smartwool Gloves as an upgrade to my Costco gloves (which are very nice, and much cheaper). I got them super on sale, either because it was the end of the season or REI was having a sale or both. I think I paid about $30 for them. They’re warm without being too warm (wool’s claim to fame, really) and they have the little touchy fingertip so you can use your phone while you wear them. They’re thin enough that you can actually use your hands while you have them on, and if you take them off they won’t bulk up your pockets. In short, these gloves are wonderful and I’m so glad past me bought them for present me to discover when I dug out all my cold weather stuff.
Watch: Taskmaster
Do you need a show that will entertain you, that you don’t have to pay too much attention to, that will make you laugh and temporarily forget about the stresses of the world? Try Taskmaster. This celebrity game show from the UK is super low stakes, nothing horribly gross happens, each episode is 45ish minutes (the perfect length for a TV show), and there are tons of episodes available for free on YouTube. I’ve been binge watching Taskmaster so often that the other day I watched a whole season in one sitting. I mean, it’s a British show so a season (or as they say, confusingly, series) is like, 5 or 6 episodes. BUT STILL.
Watching celebrities - of which I only know a few because America - complete silly tasks that allow for generous interpretation has made me feel calm, relaxed, and content even though there are about 100 different things to freak out about.
Want: Kitchen Rug
I want a rug in my kitchen. I have a Ruggable rug in my living room (which I wrote about here) and I think a Ruggable rug is just the thing I need for my kitchen. BUT, when I bought my first rug, the site had about 15 designs to choose from. Now? Seemingly ENDLESS options. I have no idea which to choose. Luckily, they allow you to buy samples, so I have five options coming. I can only hope that one of them steals my heart and make this decision making process easier.
