Wear, Watch, Want #112: The Dressy Motorcycle Mystery Edition
Wear: Old Navy Fit & Flare Dress
In the summertime, my favorite warm weather outfit is a sundress. It’s a great way to allow yourself to be sweaty but ALSO have everyone you see go, “Oh! Don’t you look nice today!” It’s a scam in outfit form. These dresses from Old Navy are so perfect for hot days when you have no idea what to wear and want to just throw on one garment that 1) Allows for some airflow, 2) Hides how sweaty you are, and 3) Still manages to make you look somewhat pulled together. I have two of the black one and one of the navy polka dot, and they get a LOT of wear. Added tip: Wear some shorts underneath to protect your luscious thighs and wick away some of your sweat.
Watch: Veronica Mars
I started watching Veronica Mars a little late (between seasons 2 and 3), but at a time in my life when it was the PERFECT show for me to be watching. I have a connection to this show that is deep in my soul, and even when it has been disappointing (mid-season 3, woof) the times when it was excellent have made up for it. I did not need more Veronica Mars, but when I saw that Hulu had piked up the show for a fourth season, I was in, no questions asked.
Overall, I enjoyed this slightly grittier, updated season of the series. Things are different, but also the same, and it was nice to revisit Neptune. I will say, however, that one plot point was a glaring mistake that even a casual fan would notice: Deputy Leo. In the first season Leo was a deputy in the Neptune Sheriff’s Department (in season four they have police, an unexplained change that bothered me, but not as much as what’s to come). Leo dates Veronica, and ends up going to her high school’s 80s dance, where he helps her corral a drunk Logan. So Leo and Logan have not only met, Leo has practically carried a pantsless Logan out of a high school dance. When Leo and Logan see each other in Veronica Mars season 4, they act as though they have never met, or even heard of one another. And Leo would know Logan even if he didn’t date Veronica and go to a school dance, because he got fired for releasing the tapes of Logan’s dad having sex with Logan’s girlfriend, who was later murdered by Logan’s dad. Leo’s whole life was shaped by Logan’s family. AND! How did Leo manage to work his way up to being an FBI agent when he was fired from his first job as a sheriff’s deputy after mishandling evidence in a murder trial???
A lot of fans had an issue with the final episode of season 4, but I actually really liked it. If you WERE a true fan, you would know that the entire premise of this show is how Veronica has been shaped by trauma. And it seems as if they knew there would be backlash, because Logan reminds us in voiceover at the end of the episode that Veronica is the strongest person he knows, and the things that should break her only propel her forward in her pursuit of justice. Anyone upset about the ending has not been paying attention. They probably didn’t notice the whole Deputy Leo fiasco either.
Want: Miz Mooz Moto Boots
I went a bit wild in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. To be fair, it is the best sale, and it’s a great opportunity to stock up on basics and get some nice things for fall. What I’m going to need for fall is some black boots. I specifically want ones with a low heel and pointy toe, so when I saw these ones for a great price in the Nords sale I pounced on them. This was during a day that I bought SO MUCH at Nordstrom that I had to get specific approval for each purchase on my Nordstrom Card. Like I said, WILD. I had to order the boots, and I knew before they arrived that it was a brash decision, and I should return them and look for something else. (I still like them! I just won’t wear them every day, and I’m looking for an every day kind of boot.) These slouchy moto boots from Miz Mooz are totally my style and I think I will wear them all the time come fall. I just have to let my bank account recover and then I will make them mine.
