Wear, Watch, Want #100: The Musical Velcro Quilt Edition
Wear: elf Flyaway Tamers
I bought a lot of things from elf when I needed makeup brushes, because I wanted to try out some things and I wanted to get free shipping. And… uh… it’s all amazing? I bought things I was interested in but I did NOT expect to love all of them! I use one of these Japanese velcro hair holder things multiple times a day. I use them when I put makeup on, I use them when I take a shower but don’t want to wash my hair, I use them when I put on a face mask. They are a huge part of my life. And I can’t find them anywhere. At least, not the ones I want. They sell just huge rectangles of Velcro now, and I want something ever so slightly cuter. The days of plastic bows are over, I guess. But when I was trolling the elf website looking for things to spend money on, I found these flyaway tamers. They’re not polka-dotted plastic bows, but they are in an actual shape - a bow shape! And they’re a great size for just getting your bangs and baby hairs out of your face. I still have one of my old plastic ones, but I’ve been reaching for the elf ones more and more.
Watch: Fosse/Verdon
I was raised on musicals and old movies, and having a show all about Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon is downright pandering to me and my ancient-reference having, dweeby kin. And I love it. I suppose you could watch the show without all the background knowledge, but you’re missing out. You’re missing out on so much!
Feels a bit disrespectful to Carol Haney (by a bit I mean completely dismissive) pic.twitter.com/HyPdzlSDao

One person liked that tweet and it was my mom.
Michelle Williams is so amazing as Gwen Verdon, and her CLOTHES. If you don’t care about musicals or the myth of the creative genius or the shift from cheery movie-musicals to gritty films then you can at least revel in Verdon’s amazing styling. As you may know, my ideal style is that of an older, elegant dance teacher, and oh BOY is Fosse/Verdon making those dreams come true for me every week.
Want: A Striped Quilt
This summer, my mom and I are making quilts. We made a quilt together when I was younger, and my parents still use it on their couch. I am sick of my plain old blankets from Ikea or Home Goods and I wanted a quilt of my own. My mom and I have been planning to make a quilt for MY house for years. This summer, IT’S TIME. This is the book with the pattern we’re using, and this is the quilt we’re making. She’s coming down this weekend to plot and plan and hopefully by the fall I’m curled up on the couch under my own handmade quilt.
