Achieve That Coveted Dewy Glow With These Drops
The dewy look is very big right now in makeup. I would probably refer to this as the Sweaty Look. Or Greasy Look. Oily Look? As a person with very oily skin, I have always wanted to be AS MATTE AS POSSIBLE, but even I have been lured to the dewy side. I used to always use setting powder on my face. ALWAYS. But I can’t remember the last time I reached for powder, and somehow, I have survived. I still use blotting papers religiously, though. I’m not completely insane.
I heard that Aveeno has a new line called Maxglow and I was immediately intrigued. A lot of “illuminating” or “highlighting” products are often just body glitter that’s been rebranded for the 21st century. But if there was a non-glitter product that would help me achieve that elusive lit-from-within glow? I had to try it. I grabbed a bottle of Aveeno Positively Radiant MaxGlow Infusion Drops at Target (there was a deal on Cartwheel for $4 off. I’m all for using coupons whenever possible, but this stuff is $20 and I might not have tried it without that discount.)
The first thing I noticed about these drops is the packaging. This is a very high-end looking bottle. It could easily be a product from Origins or Boscia, but it’s Aveeno! From Target! Then I tested out a few drops on my hand and not only does this have a great slip to it, it smells AMAZING. I don’t know what the smell is but it’s botanical and fresh and light and like something you’d get used on you at a fancy spa and then you find out that a bottle costs $90. Its’ a GREAT SMELL is what I’m saying.
As for the effervescent, dewy look I was promised, this little bottle does deliver. You can either apply these drops on their own, or mix a few in with your moisturizer. I have tended to use it solo, and I’m still experimenting with how to use it with sunscreen. One day I used the Aveeno drops first, then layered on my favorite sunscreen, and it was TOO MUCH DEW. So play around with it and see what works for you. I am also looking for a new sunscreen, so perhaps using something else will change my morning moisturizing routine. I’ve also used these drops before applying the Dr Jart Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment (review here), and that combo is really fantastic. I end up looking, well, more alive. I suppose that’s what the dewy look is all about - looking less corpse-like.
