Wear, Watch, Want #124: The Never Too Cold For a Con Edition
Wear: Touchscreen Running Gloves
I really think there was no fall this year. We went from, “Oh, it’s slightly chillier! Fall is coming” to WINTER. I was scraping solid frost off my car in the MIDDLE OF OCTOBER. I’m regularly wearing my winter coat, a scarf, a had, and most importantly, gloves. These gloves from Costco are great, not only because they keep my hands warm, but also because you can still use your phone while wearing them. I’ve tried touchscreen gloves before that only kinda-sorta work, but these work consistently, so I can fast-forward through podcast ads while walking the dog, all while keeping my paws nice and warm.
Watch: Parasite
It seems every outlet has been talking about Parasite for weeks, and I was finally able to see it. If you want a more thorough analysis, then look elsewhere, because I’m going to use the opportunity to talk about Kdramas. You can enjoy Parasite without having spend years steeped in Korean pop culture, but if you’ve a non-Korean person who knows a lot about Korean *stuff* I really think you will understand Parasite on a deeper level. So many dramas are about the haves and have-nots and they’re a great primer for this film. ALSO, the hot cousin from Coffee Prince is in Parasite, and when he came onscreen I inhaled sharply and whispered, “COFFEE PRINCE.” Happy to see him again, also feeling like maybe it’s time for a Coffee Prince rewatch.
I’ll also add this: I get that scams are bad, and the scam in Parasite has some particularly sinister consequences, but you’ve gotta respect the Kim family. Scamming takes talent!
Want: Ugg Short Boots
As well has having cold hands, I also have cold feet! And my joints are already in rough shape, so when you add in cold, my hands and feet are in pain fairly regularly. It… sucks. I’ve been having a particularly hard time early in the morning, when my little toesies feel like they’re going to freeze right off. A pair of Uggs, that will regulate my body temperature and are easy to slip on and off, seem like a perfect solution. AND Costco is selling this pair for just $100. )You can really rationalize the purchase of 30 different pairs of black boots when you live in a colder climate.)
