Gift Guide 2019: Eat!
Do you watch Bon Appetit videos and wish you had a beautiful apron like everyone in the Test Kitchen? I certainly do, particularly the smock aprons Molly Baz wears. Thanks to this helpful article, I know that the Test Kitchen chefs wear some pricy Japanese style aprons, and you could get one of those, or the one pictured above, for about $100. Or you could get the one I just bought on Amazon for $20.
I am now a butter bell evangelist. This is the only way you should store butter! I have this one because I am obsessed with Crate & Barrel’s French kitchen line, but you can get a Le Creuset one in multiple color options for relatively cheap (considering it’s Le Creuset).
You might remember Ruby Tandoh from The Great British Bake Off. I loved her, and when I found out she did great writing about food - and not just recipes, although she also writes those! - I became a super fan. I tried writing a synopsis of Eat Up!, but it’s not as good as this one I wrote, so please just go read that, and then buy Eat Up! and support Ruby Tandoh, an angel.
Seattle has compost pickup, which is awesome, but you need to find a way to manage your compost in your house before you take it out to the big ol’ compost bin. Most people use these little countertop compost bins, and some (me) even line them with BioBags to make them even more tidy. This compost bin is the most chic one I’ve seen. So much so that I considered replacing mine.
These realistic mini food pins and magnets are so charming. I’ve featured a cheeseburger pin and a grilled cheese magnet, but this Etsy store offers so much more.
I always want to make doughnuts at home. Every store seems to sell a doughnut pan, and I can’t pass one without thinking, “I should make my own doughnuts at home!” I should NOT, but that doesn’t stop my heart from wanting whatever foolish ideas that it wants. This pan in particular has patterned molds, so your homemade doughnuts would be EVEN FANCIER. MY HEART!
