If You Ignore My Advice About These Five Things, We’re in a Fight, Immediately

I clearly love giving recommendations, but there are some items that I recommend so SO thoroughly, I will be personally offended if you don’t follow my advice. In my mind, there are certain recommendations that aren’t actually recommendations — they’re objective FACTS. Here are five of them:

TSA PreCheck/NEXUS

If you take more than two plane trips in a year, you are a fool to not have PreCheck. If you live near a Canadian border that you cross with any regularity, you are a fool to not have NEXUS. As a bonus, if you have NEXUS you also have Global Entry, so you have PreCheck access at airports. I had PreCheck for years until I moved to Seattle and my parents moved even closer to the Canadian border, then I got NEXUS and it is THE BEST. NEXUS is also cheaper, at $50 for 5 years (PreCheck is $78 and Global Entry is $100, both for 5 years). NEXUS does have fewer locations for your in-person interview — They’re all along the US/Canada border because you need to be interviewed by an American and a Canadian representative, but it’s worth it! The way I BREEZE through security! WORTH EVERY PENNY.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

There IS a best moisturizer and it’s CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. You CAN spend more on products but odds are they aren’t as good and are more likely to negatively affect your skin. CeraVe is rich but gentle, you can use it on your entire body (great for a minimalist who doesn’t want to buy a body moisturizer and a facial moisturizer). You can buy a two pack at Costco for a great deal AND is goes on sale. There is no scent. There is no added gimmicks. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is just a straight up perfect product, and if you don’t take my advice and use it, God help you (and your skin).

Yeti Drinkware

We’ve been over this before (and before that) but Yeti makes the best insulated drinkware on the planet. There are other similar brands, I’m sure they’re FINE, but Yeti is, in my opinion, unmatched. The first thing I do in the morning is make a latte in my Yeti tumbler, then throughout the day I drink water out of my Yeti rambler bottle with a chug cap, THEN I’ll have a Spindrift in my Yeti colster and end the evening with a tea in yet another Yeti tumbler. They last forever, they’re easy to clean, and if you actually use your Yetis all the time, and don’t replace them just because a color you like came out and/or keep an eye out for sales they are very affordable.

COSRX Snail Serum

If you add one thing to you skincare routine, make it COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence. It is a miracle product that helps with everything. Texture, dryness, redness, hyperpigmentation — all are no match for the snail sauce. Cosrx Snail Juice is 96% snail mucin, which I believe is the largest concentration of any sail product. It’s the most popular one for a reason! I use my snail serum before my CeraVe at night and the combo is elite. If you ask me about skincare and then don’t get a bottle of Cosrx snail sauce I’m going to be Big Mad.

Peloton

Tweet about how Peloton has something for everyone, Image is a yoga class called "steve martin yoga flow"

If you want me to give you a 45 minute presentation on why Peloton is HAES aligned, accessible, and affordable exercise for everyone, I can do it immediately. Zero prep required. I would never tell someone they must buy a piece of Peloton equipment (I have a Bike+ and if you want me to tell you why that over the regular bike I will, that’s a different situation), but I will tell you about the app (which had a tier that is completely free!) and about how there is something for everyone at Peloton. I’m also going to go on a side rant about my favorite instructor, Tunde, and why people say that she’s the mean instructor (we all know why) but she’s really the best of the best.
